Ides of March

The Ides of March ( February 3)
During the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, up-and-coming campaign press secretary, Stephen Meyers, (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate's shot at the presidency. Dirty tricks stand to soil his idealism in the cutthroat campaign where "victory" is relative. The film, directed by George Clooney, is inspired by the real-life experiences of an aide who worked on Howard Dean's failed 2004 run. Nominated for a Golden Globe Best Picture Award, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Evan Rachel Wood, Marisa Tomei also star. R for pervasive language.

Crazy Stupid Love

Crazy Stupid Love (February 17)
At forty-something, straight-laced Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) is living the dream-good job, nice house, great kids and marriage to his high school sweetheart. But when Cal learns that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), has cheated on him and wants a divorce, his "perfect" life quickly unravels. Worse, in today's single world, Cal, who hasn't dated in decades, stands out as the epitome of unsmooth. Now spending his free evenings sulking alone at a local bar, the hapless Cal is taken on as wingman and protégé to handsome, thirty-something player Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). Meanwhile, Cal's adolescent son, Robbie (Jonah Bobo), has formed an unquenchable crush on his 17-year-old babysitter -- but is she more interested in Cal? Gosling is nominated for a Golden Globe. PG-13 for coarse humor, sexual content, and language.

Contagion (February 24)
Steven Soderbergh steers big stars through this big-screen disaster-thriller about a global team of doctors tasked with tamping down a deadly outbreak of a lethal, airborne, infectious, virus that kills within days before it annihilates mankind. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart. Starring Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lawrence Fishburne, and Jude Law. PG-13 for disturbing content and some language.
