2011 1st Annual HB Senior Surf Invitational Welcomes Surfers Ages 50+ For a Wave of Fun
The 2011 HB Senior Surf Invitational took place Saturday, October 29th, on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier beginning at 7:30 a.m. The City of Huntington Beach and the Huntington Beach Council on Aging (HBCOA) invited all surfers ages 50+ to register through Michael E. Rodgers Seniors’ Center.
Through the surfing competition, the HBCOA promotes and encourages the “active aging” lifestyle. The Huntington Beach area is home to more than 50,000 seniors age 50 and older. HBCOA supports seniors and their families through various services and events offered through the Michael E. Rodgers Seniors Center and Seniors Center Outreach.
Athletes will compete within a 5 year age group (50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+), and will be judged on wave selection, maneuvers, fluidity and style.
